A place where you can be yourself.

If you feel like life isn’t what you want it to be, you’re not connecting with others in the way that feels good to you, or if past patterns are no longer serving you, you’re not alone. I work from a place of compassion, understanding, intuition, and humor combined with an extensive array of therapeutic tools to help you reduce discomfort, heal, and engage in the life you want.

You can be yourself here.

  • Do you find that you’re hard on yourself for things you’ve done in the past or you’ve internalized someone else’s messages about you and you can’t get them out of your head?

  • Do you have a hard time figuring out what you need and then advocating for it, afraid of hurting others’ feelings, wanting to people please, and feeling guilty for prioritizing yourself?

  • Do you struggle to connect with others and don’t want to feel lonely anymore?

  • Were you hurt by people who were supposed to love you and take care of you and who you should have been able to rely on and feel attached to?

  • Do you struggle with anxiety and self-critical thoughts that just won’t go away no matter what you try?

  • Have you experienced trauma in your life and you’re still feeling the effects of it now, but you’re afraid to face it because it might feel too overwhelming?

  • Are you feeling stuck in life, wanting to make a change, but not feeling able to?

  • Are you struggling with stress and burnout and need a different perspective or some different tools to get through it or change it?

  • Do you feel like life is happening to you and you want to take more control of your own life?

If you can relate to any (or all) of these, please reach out to schedule a free 15-20 minute consultation.

The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.

About the Name: Black Cat Counseling

Black cats in the United States have often been considered a sign of evil or a bad omen. That’s a social construct that doesn’t match my experience of my own black cat. My black cat is one of the bright spots in my life. Though spirited, he’s not evil and he’s certainly not a bad omen.

Part of my approach to therapy entails shining a light on social constructs that don’t work for us. I help my clients examine the “should”s in their lives to determine whether it’s something that works for them or whether it’s something that’s not helpful.
